I did get an amazing serving platter. It might even just be a large plate with a small lip around the edge. I am not really sure. But I love it and have so many ideas of what we can put on it. Even if I don't use it for cupcakes (what I'm really wanting to do with it when it dries) I figured it would match the living room colors to be a nice little spot to drop keys and other items when we come home. I got it for $1.66 (yay for sale days). I used some green paint chips I grabbed at Home Depot and some mod podge that has been sitting quietly since I got it a few weeks ago. I also use a circle punch I bought when I was making some stuff last year.
Seriously, so easy and very cute. All I did was punch out some circles.
And put some mod podge on the back of the circle. And then the top. I didn't read the directions but I think I did ok. It's currently drying and I did not have the patience to wait to post about it. I can't wait to find a perfect spot for it in our home.
Now I have finally found a great use for it. I'm sure this will temporary as most things are that I do, but this works for now. And I think it's perfect.
Right now it is holding all of my handmade jewelry and I love it. And no, it is not going to always sit on top of a guitar case.
Such a cute platter! Modge Podge isn't food safe, so it looks like you have your adorable tray for keys and lip gloss. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I have a big clear glass plate to put on top if I used it for food. Right now I have some necklaces and things in it. But it's in the office. Haha. I'm good about making a project but not putting it somewhere appropriate.
DeleteThat is so adorable! I would love if you stopped by and linked it up to The Pinterest Project: http://fortunefavors11.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-pinterest-project-week-1.html
ReplyDeleteOf course Sarah! I would love to.
DeleteSo happy you did :) Gotta check out these cupcakes too!
DeleteThis is so cute! What a great way to make it personal. Does the modge podge come off in the dishwasher though? New follower. Can't wait to see what else is in store! Yay for being blog friends!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I would not put this in the dishwasher, wipe clean with a damp sponge and that would be it. If you put food on it, I would put a clear glass dish down on top or make sure it's food that is wrapped like cupcakes. Mod podge isn't food safe unfortunately. I'm currently using mine to hold some bracelets that I took off the night I made it.
DeleteThis is such a great idea!! Glad you linked up to The Pinterest Project!
