Bridal shower?

Was just informed there are 6 bridal shower prizes for games.

Now it's a good time for the bridesmaids to come up with great games to play in October :)

Ideas?

This is what I've been up to...

And it's not much. :/ We went over the wedding budget again just to see how things are looking. And they are looking pretty darn good considering we originally only wanted to invite a small number of guests and are about 50 something over that. And for each person over  that of course adds more costs. More for their food, their bar costs, wedding favors (which I'm needing some help on I think), and then invites, rsvp cards, postage and so on! Thankfully our church can not hold more than 160. So we're pretty much capped at where we are. Oh thank god!

I finally (I know, I know, I know) sent the dj our must play songs for the wedding reception for when we are introduced, wedding party, our first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, cake cutting, garter toss, bouquet toss, final slow dance and the last song of the night. I said I was doing this before, but I got busy with something else so nothing got accomplished until now. We were even supposed to meet the dj on June 1st, but couldn't since we didn't email him his list! Oops!

And I've been reading tons of wedding websites and magazines and stumbled upon the best idea I've ever seen. I've talked to a couple of people about this already, but I'm not quite sure. It's about a groom's shower for Iggy since I will be having a bridal shower. They listed themed ones like where the men play poker and everyone brings poker and bar related gifts. Whether its poker chips, cards, or bar accessories or liquor as a gift. One where men barbeque and get bbq gifts. Sauces, accessories, whatever really. Well, I love the idea. I just need to mention it to the best man and see what he thinks. Iggy is up for it. He thought it was a great way to get to hang out with the guys before the wedding and not including the smaller bachelor party he will have. And at the groom's shower, no strippers. They can save those half naked girls for the bachelor party. :) The maid of honor thought it was neat and I'm waiting to her back from how her husband (a groomsmen in the wedding) feels about it. Grooms mom loves the idea. And another groomsman thought it was redundant.

Other than that, my flowers came in the mail! :) I love my paper flowers so much. I have not started bouquet making yet, but it doesn't look like something I am going to enjoy.

I also have ruled out the idea of the unity candle. I wanted something more original. And I have 2 options.

A lot of things are being kept a secret and I wish I could post them, but I can't for several reasons!
  1.  Someone already tried taking some of my ideas (that WILL NOT happen again)
  2.  I need to keep it a secret from most guests
  3.  Some items are a secret from the husband to be (like his wedding gifts)
I can give some details to some of you. More of you who are not coming can know more. Haha. :) But feel free to ask and I can see what I can or can't tell you!

What a wonderful night!

This evening after work was spent with Kelli and Josh (the maid of honor and best man). We went to a "Cocktails and Questions" or something like that even at Receptions in Eastgate. It was actually fun. I was worried it would be super lame, but we ended up having fun!

And what did we do?

  • We got to eat some cheese and fruit!
  • Had a signature cocktail (it was more like a screwdriver that they tried to spruce up).
  • Ate some cupcakes and cakepops (oh I wish I had photos of those to show you how tasty)! But it was done by our specific cake baker and I'm glad Kelli and Josh loved her cakes!
  • Met a very expensive/aggressive photographer.
  • Saw some cute paper products that I wanted to share with fellow bride Melanie (some I might try to DIY for my own wedding)
  • Played in a photobooth
  • Listened to a dj I didn't care much for (ours will be much better)!
  • Fell in love with some jewelery from Stella & Dot
  • And am considering seriously having an Over the Wine Party. Oh, it seems really fun! And who would be interested in joining?! Someone please say yes so we can do this!

It turned out to really be great! I know it sounds like a waste of time to those of you not interested in wedding planning, but it was a nice time out with the maid of honor and best man! Unfortunately, we didn't win any prizes though! I had hoped at least one of us would win something, but thats ok! We got some great pictures from the night though!

And to finish the night off, Iggy, Josh, Travis, and Matt are all seeing The Hangover 2 right now. I hope they are laughing their butts off because I'm dying to see it. :) Plus this weekend has to be great, I have a 4 day weekend and am spending tomorrow with the bff (CAN NOT WAIT)!  And then have my birthday Saturday night! Woohoo! For those of you who actually read this and will be at the birthday event, I'm wearing a summer dress. Please feel free to dress in a summery dress and be prepared for my pirate party! Oh yay!

*Edit to this post*

Josh is called the best man as his title in the wedding. At the Receptions event tonight, he held up that title and did a great job at it. But...not now. Some best man. :( Wouldn't take a photo of the guys at the movies so I could blog about it (not like he even knew I would have or that I even have this blog)! So why didn't he take the picture? Because he is the anti-bestman. Yep. He is. What a sad night it has turned in to.

Hopefully we will be busy bees tonight!

I will be spending quite sometime tonight emailing the Dj of our list of play & not play song since I have put it off for such a long time. I'm more concerned about this now since we are meeting with him again June 1st. And were supposed to have gotten this list to him awhile ago! Oops!

And then I will be working on making a plan boring drab ring bearers pillow (thank you kelli) into something more unique and colorful!

And I have already started to revamp the basket our wedding programs will be going in. I just need to finish it tonight.

Like I said, lots of work!

<3ing my bridesmaids!

Tonight was so wonderful! Andrea, Kelli, and I went to see bridesmaids! First of all, it was a wonderful movie! I laughed very hard at some parts and it was sweet in the end. Parts of it reminded me of the fights that my sister and I have had. It's really worth seeing, even more if you're getting married this soon!

While at the movies, Iggy was the babysitter for the 3 boys! Apparently, they all had fun and enjoyed some guy time!

Now the wedding movie has me in full planning mode! Paying off flowers tonight! Hoping they will be shipped soon and will be able to start making some bouquets! I worked on updating guests lists and budgets and other items at work and felt like I had gotten a great start towards the planning for tonight! Sure hope iggy is in the mood!
